Asean Chapter winners


Oct.7th, the Asean Semi-Final winners iRadar and MSMB were successfully promoted to enter the 30 finals of the IPIEC GLOBAL 2019 with super hardcore technovation background and a vision to settle practical livelihood problems. Afterwards, WTOIP, the global organizer of IPIEC, will keep track of the selected startups to seek for the right partners in China market.



The contest was taken place in Technology Park Malaysia and regarded the largest in size other than the previous two editions of IPIEC Global in Asean for commercialization and partnerships with various organizations and companies in China and the event this year drove awareness from entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, government agencies from around Asean.

Innovative contest such as IPIEC Global 2019 serves as a great platform for entrepreneurs out there who want to tap the China market with the necessary support from their government and local authorities. “I was pretty impressed with the IPIEC 2018 when the star candidate Nanopac led by the Malaysia Datuk won the third place in the global final competition, which demonstrated Malaysia’s super strong technovation level all over the world. We have long been in a close and brilliant relationship with our Asean partners and I’m so grateful that the Asean partners especially those from Malaysia have given us huge support to the competition. And I believe that it wound turn out to be another great success this year. “ Edmont Rao, Vice President of WTOIP, expressed his expectation for the 2019 event. 


IPIEC is primarily an innovation contest. However, it is much more than just a contest, but a trinity of contest, resource platform and incubation program. It helps tech projects dive into a broader market and get access to integrated resources such as professional guidance, financing sources, more potential business partners and skillful talents. Meanwhile, IPIEC participants can obtain systematic training and quality consulting from experts along their business growth cycle, which makes the contest can an excellent incubation program. 


The 30 finals will be offered feasibility analysis, requirements traceability, corporate rewards and supports for the Intellectual Property. 



In essence, the top rank startup iRadar Sdn.Bhd. has figured out a way to remotely sense and surveil the environment and usage of resources - a crucial step toward innovative embedded radar solution in the world. The other winner MSMB with the technology of agri-tech and agribiz integration will benefit those in pursuit of the improvement of farmers’ prosperity.

Candidates this year paid much attention on agriculture, eco-friendly materials and medical treatment, which pointed out a trend that the startups not only sought for the commercial benefits but valued social responsibilities as well. 



Judges this year included BETA Foundation CEO Lilyana Latiff, Raffle Chan - Head of Global BD from WTOIP Global, Renuka- CEO of Proficeo Consultants, Brian Cracknell- Sustainability Expert and International Network Director for Languange Works, Datuk Seri Mohd Zabid from Unitar, Omar Rana from Silicon Valley VC and Finalytics, Ahmad Fauzi Ali from VC Singularity Ventures, Norhizam Kadir from MDEC and Dr. Sivapal Vivekarajah from Proficeo Consultants. They expressed their pleasant surprise and satisfaction on the candidates that owned outstanding business strategies and cutting-edge technologies.


The above winners will take part in the Semi-Final in December in China and the Multi-City Tech-Matching Roundtrip for match-making events with offered free one round-trip plane ticket and free accommodation service. They will be also awarded with China Entry suggestions and online & offline project promotion opportunities in China. 



WTOIP, as the organizer of IPIEC GLOBAL and the first expert and business partner for china market entry, has been working with government agencies and major innovation organizations worldwide to co-organize overseas chapters, aiming to actively engage startups, enterprises, inventors, innovation unions, industry associations, universities & colleges, research institutes and incubators to present their latest innovations. 


During the event, Raffle Chan from WTOIP Global (China) gave an opening speech that he recognized and affirmed the great achievements China and Malaysia have made in the past years in terms of finance and transaction and reckoned that WTOIP would be the perfect gateway for Asean startups entering China market. There was also the sharing session that Mr. Liam, Senior BD Manager from WTOIP Global, lectured on the title of “WTOIP AND EXPANDING YOUR BUSINESS INTO CHINA”. 


IPIEC Asean chapter this year marked the milestone when WTOIP signed MOUs with BETA FOUNDATION, an innovative enterprise with the aim to build a vibrant and high impact tech/startup business ecosystem and community across Asia Pacific. The duo have long been partners to make IPIEC Global a well-known technovation platform in Asean in recent years. WTOIP also signed MOUs and partnerships with Technology Park Malaysia as well.
