About mentor

Profile Overview

I am an Assistant Professor at the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California. I graduated from the University of Michigan. Jeffrey K. MacKie-Mason was my advisor. My dissertation committee members were my advisor, Professor Yan Chen, Professor Rahul Sami, and Professor Nigel Melville. I study the strategic behavior of individuals in information aggregation systems. Information systems are great tools for collecting and aggregating distributed information held by individuals, but people may or may not have the right incentives to provide their information. Contribution costs time and effort, and some users of these systems may provide information that misleads others. How can we motivate people to share high quality information? I use multiple methods in my research: game theoretical modeling, statistical modeling and analysis, and human-subject laboratory experiments. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, badminton, and practicing Chinese calligraphy.

Credentials & Honors

My research has been published by highly respected peer-reviewed journals in both the field of communication - for example New Media and Society, and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication - and the field of management information systems, including Management Science, and MIS Quarterly.
